The Samurdhi Division provides various services and assistance programmes to promote the social protection, economic empowerment, and livelihood development of eligible Samurdhi beneficiaries. The Division facilitates the release of Samurdhi Social Security benefits in situations such as death, marriage, childbirth, and hospitalization upon submission of the required documents within the specified period. It also facilitates the release of compulsory savings funds for approved purposes such as medical treatment, higher education, old-age requirements, and self-employment activities, subject to the submission of relevant supporting documents. Furthermore, the Division supports the livelihood development and economic empowerment of Samurdhi beneficiaries by obtaining and evaluating project proposals and providing necessary equipment and assistance for eligible projects, as well as supporting beneficiaries to start or develop self-employment activities.
